Downtown Atlanta is the ultimate in urban living. From the Victorian era buildings to the brand new skyscrapers, it’s the center of action in the city. While you won’t see much new construction Downtown, there’s lots of adaptive reuse going on. The city is in the middle of a massive, planned revitalization and it’s changing the entire face of Downtown. In recent years the city has invested in numerous clean-ups, repairs, landscaping, and Sculptural Playgrounds.
Traffic in Atlanta is notoriously hectic, which makes living in Downtown even more desirable to those who work here. This neighborhood has always had MARTA access, but last-mile connectivity wasn’t necessarily there. Now, the new Atlanta Streetcar runs on a 2.7-mile loop, connecting Centennial Olympic Park with the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site and nearby neighborhoods. You can also rent bikes or scooters along the road to speed up your walk.
Many residents of Downtown Atlanta are business professionals who enjoy the ability to avoid traffic and walk to work. Because Georgia State University occupies the west side of Downtown, this area is also popular among students and faculty. Downtown Atlanta is an eclectic, lively hub of culture, entertainment, and Southern charm. (Pro tip: if you'd like to keep the downtown convenience, but want a more suburban feel, you might like Buckhead. It is located directly north of Downtown and has become a major business hub in recent years.)

Ponce City Market is located in the neighboring Old Fourth Ward and is definitely a local favorite.

This neighborhood has a range of rental options: from multi-unit complexes and townhomes to trendy converted lofts. As with most major cities, parking is limited and public transportation is widely available. However, almost everyone in Atlanta owns a car and driving is common.
