Downtown Atlanta is the ultimate in urban living. From the Victorian era buildings to the brand new skyscrapers, it’s the center of action in the city. While you won’t see much new construction Downtown, there’s lots of adaptive reuse going on. The city is in the middle of a massive, planned revitalization and it’s changing the entire face of Downtown. In recent years the city has invested in numerous clean-ups, repairs, landscaping, and Sculptural Playgrounds.

Traffic in Atlanta is notoriously hectic, which makes living in Downtown even more desirable to those who work here. This neighborhood has always had MARTA access, but last-mile connectivity wasn’t necessarily there. Now, the new Atlanta Streetcar runs on a 2.7-mile loop, connecting Centennial Olympic Park with the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site and nearby neighborhoods. You can also rent bikes or scooters along the road to speed up your walk.

Many residents of Downtown Atlanta are business professionals who enjoy the ability to avoid traffic and walk to work. Because Georgia State University occupies the west side of Downtown, this area is also popular among students and faculty. Downtown Atlanta is an eclectic, lively hub of culture, entertainment, and Southern charm. (Pro tip: if you'd like to keep the downtown convenience, but want a more suburban feel, you might like Buckhead. It is located directly north of Downtown and has become a major business hub in recent years.)

Neighborhood Life

Think Victorian townhomes, multi-unit sky rises, and trendy converted lofts. The Downtown neighborhoods are working to revitalize their options and create a community feel. Public Schools are excellent, and there is always something to do. If hustle and bustle excite you, this is the place to be: From world-renowned tourist attractions and mass transit to manicured parks and pedestrian-only boardwalks.

Local Hangouts

Downtown is home to many popular tourist attractions such as CNN’s world headquarters, the World of Coke, the Georgia Aquarium, the Georgia Dome, and Phillips Arena. Enjoy manicured green spaces at Centennial Olympic Park and Woodruff Park. Grab a bite at Aviva by Kameel, or Fandangle’s, and catch panoramic sunset views at Sun Dial. Ponce City Market is located in the neighboring Old Fourth Ward and is definitely a local favorite.

Things to Know

This neighborhood has a range of rental options: from multi-unit complexes and townhomes to trendy converted lofts. As with most major cities, parking is limited and public transportation is widely available. However, almost everyone in Atlanta owns a car and driving is common. This means traffic can be hectic, especially during peak hours. If you're looking to get away from bustling urban life, check out Morningside-Lenox Park.

She then set up all the appointments as I was flying in for 2 days to view. She found places that fit my budget and desires and selected the second apartment viewed as it was perfect! I cannot rave enough…

I moved to Atlanta from another state and I needed an apartment ASAP. Brenna was professional, kind, empathetic, friendly, and efficient. Secondly, she contacted me almost every other day to…

Please do yourself a favor and work with John Vinson @ AptAmigo. I have lived in the Atlanta area for 4 years and this place has grown so much since I first moved here. So many more complexes and so little time to check and compare them all. John found me and took the reigns helping guide me to the proper complexes that fit my style and requirements. He is well organized and…

I highly recommend Addison Ruhlmans' services from AptAmigo. She helped my family find a great apartment in downtown Denver with alot or requirements. We would not have found this place ourselves, and we are very internet savvy. We really appreciated her recommends. Thanks again

I worked with John Vinson & he was amazing. John listened to my needs & my wants and he sent me a good list of quality apartments that fit my preference. He set up the tours for me and followed up every step of the way. Once I found a property that I liked, he called the property to get the ball rolling for me with the application & approval process. This has really be a smooth, quick and easy process.
