Just outside of the Central Business District, but still central, the City Park neighborhood is tucked below Denver’s largest park. This homey neighborhood has something for all ages and interests. Residents of City Park enjoy the convenience of having events in their backyard that many people drive or travel to experience. This 330-acre park is home to The Denver Museum of Nature & Science, the Denver Zoo, and multiple playgrounds, pavilions, and walking paths. In the summer, Jazz in the Park is hosted here. Locals from all over Denver flock to the City Park Pavilion with lawn chairs, coolers, and bottles of wine to enjoy local bands as the sunsets. And, if one enormous park isn't enough, Cheesman Park is just a stone's throw away.
About 70% of this neighborhood is occupied by the park itself. So the neighborhood of City Park is actually quite small. Houses are moderately sized and close together. Most have grassy front and back yards, alleyway garage access, and quaint front porches. Most residential options are single-family homes with the occasional house that has been split into two dwellings. A few mid-rise residential buildings have sprung up since the 2000s. You’ll typically find better prices and fewer luxury amenities than you would in more “downtown” areas. But this can be a plus if you prefer to step away from the bustle and enjoy the laid back, tree-lined streets of a true neighborhood feel.
