This neighborhood gets its name from the beautiful Cheesman Park that takes up about one-quarter of the neighborhood. Built on a historic cemetery, this grassy field is home to Denver’s favorite ghost stories. However, that doesn’t keep scores of sunbathers, soccer players, and dogs off its lawn. Find Denverites throwing frisbees, playing volleyball, or picnicking during warmer months at this popular spot. The neoclassical pavilion provides a dramatic backdrop to the expansive lawn that stretches in front of it, sprinkled in variations of colors of flowers.

The Cheesman Park Denver neighborhood has low to mid-rise buildings that densely line the streets. As far as parking is concerned: this neighborhood is sandwiched between two of the most congested areas. Situated between Cap Hill and City Park West, residents sometimes struggle to find convenient street parking. Thankfully, the walkability of Cheesman Park more than makes up for this. Residents are within walking distance of 6th Avenue’s coffee shops, bars, and restaurants, as well as the Denver Botanic Gardens.

Neighborhood Vibe

Cheesman Park is a laid back neighborhood compared to areas like LoDo or RiNo. The area is dotted with relaxed cocktail lounges and hip coffee shops that set the calm and social vibe of Cheesman Park. This park dates back to the 1850s when it was used as a cemetery. Despite this spooky past, today the park is green and lively and full of energy. Residents enjoy long walks through the park’s trails, sunsets from the pavilion, and visits to the Denver Botanic Gardens. Cheesman Park is a great location for weekends at home that will never leave you restless.

Favorite Spots

Locals and tourists alike enjoy exploring the many hidden gems and secret delights within Denver Botanic Gardens. Enjoy the exotic plants as well as summer concerts, workshops, and glass sculptures from the world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly. If sweets are your thing, Voodoo Donuts cannot be missed. Famous for its quirky concoctions like Captain Crunch, bubblegum, and orange Tang flavored donuts, it draws in people from all over Denver. The cozy bistro Potager is one of the area’s best-kept secrets and is connected to the newly renovated roof deck of Park Tavern.

Things to Know

Because this neighborhood is so popular, parking is extremely hard to come by—especially during business hours. Thankfully, RTD buses run constantly and consistently in this area so you’re able to get around with ease. Cheesman Park residents are generally active and outdoorsy. Find locals setting up a net and playing volleyball or spending their weekend throwing the ball with their rescue pup. If you enjoy walking through nature, you’ll love this area. The Cheeseman Park neighborhood has primarily low to mid-rise buildings. If you want a similar vibe to Cheesman Park, but prefer more walkability to entertainment options and grocery stores, check out Wash Park.

Great service, takes the stress out of apartment searching. This is actually my second time using Aptamigo in Denver. Worked with Bralie who was amazing. She was super communicative, candid, helpful, and definitely knew a lot about the market and buildings before touring. You pretty much just have a conversation on what you're looking for and they take care of the rest. Thanks for the help!

Aptamigo solves the worst part of apartment hunting - coordinating tours between all the various rental properties. While you may not see every property in the area, if you don't want to take time off of work or spend several weekends touring this is your place to go. They get it done in 1 weekend. Would recommend.

AptAmigo is the absolute best! The team was so thorough with my search for my apartment, getting to know me and my preferences. They handle everything from scheduling tours, sending suggested properties and making sure once you chosen your perfect spot that all is done to secure it. It was nice to have someone to go along with to the tours especially if you’re new in town.…

I had a wonderful experience as a client of AptAmigo. I recently accepted a job offer and needed to move to Denver from out of state. I was not super familiar with the area and trying to find the right apartment remotely was very stressful. However, working with Harris at AptAmigo was absolutely awesome! He was extremely responsive and very flexible when scheduling virtual…

I was a bit hesitant at first, we were only going to 4 buildings that day; and given that in my past experience of apartment hunting it had always taken me weeks and at least 20 places to see. However Scott knew exactly what I was looking for. The second building we visited was the one, I new it the second I stepped into the lobby. Scott heard exactly what I was looking for,…

I had a wonderful experience as a client of AptAmigo. I gave its team the difficult task of locating a move-in ready apartment for me with a deadline of about 2 weeks. The team had recommendations in my inbox within a few hours and tours lined up for the following day. Plus, those tours were accompanied by a knowledgeable guide. I'm extremely pleased with AptAmigo's services and would recommend them to anyone looking to rent in the Denver area.

I was skeptical about a service that was completely free. I’ve always looked and found a place on my own but I won’t again. Can’t recommend their service highly enough. Peter was extremely personable and made the process seamless.

AptAmigo is an amazing service that I would recommend to anyone!! My partner and I have been endlessly searching for apartments for the last year, and were afraid we were too picky and wishy/washy to move. Peter at AptAmigo was quick to pull up apartments that we wouldn't have been able to find alone. He was also quick to get us to make viewing appointments because he…
