I think for many people they liked the University Center. However, as a fun, over 21 adult... it was not great for summer housing. There is not options near or around it (most likely because it's in the South Loop) (food or bars). Mainly though the security was overbearing... I did feel safe which is nice because it's not in the best area of town, but it took FOREVER to get my friends into the building because of their policies. First you had to give them your ID and your friends drivers license and then get a picture and so forth.. about 10 minute process. But then after that, you could only have two friends upstairs at a time.. I am sorry, but I have more than 2 friends. I never wanted to go back to my apartment because it was such a hassle.
What did you like most?
It was connected to a 7/11 in the lobby.. It also was in a good location for the red line and trains, which was great... So I could get away from that place.
What did you like least?
The process of bringing people to my room... or not bringing them because I couldn't have more than 2 friends.

Plenty of space in the unit, decent amenities. It was a serviceable if not a little quiet place to spend the summer.

As a college student, this was my only option, I lived in a two bedroom suite with three other dudes so privacy was a constant issue. It was hard to bring chicks back to the crib. But the best part about the place was the fact that there was a 7/11 right next door to the main lobby.

The South Loop has been the center of new residential construction in Chicago for the last decade as people have realized just how convenient it is. South Loop boasts a large amount of green space, Soldier Field, and an easy commute to The Loop. While many South Loop buildings are brand new high rises, the rent is comparably more affordable than other neighborhoods.

Taking a lakeshore stroll or running along the lake is easy for South Loopers, with its convenient location. Residents of South Loop can be found dining outside at a cafe or taking advantage of their building’s ample amenities on weeknights. The weekends in South Loop are spent walking to Shedd Aquarium or Adler planetarium for whimsical exploration. Or, using the money saved on rent to attend Lollapalooza or go shopping downtown.

Because South Loop is mostly residential, the nightlife options here are slim to none. Most people head downtown for their entertainment, which makes this neighborhood a quiet place to settle down.
