I only lived there for the summer during my internship in a suite style apartment. It was 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It's in the South Loop, so it's a little slow after 5 and a tad fast-foody. The building is very well maintained with a nice gym and amenities. Affordable for students. I enjoyed my time at the University Center and would recommend it to other people.
What did you like most?
I enjoyed the newly renovated space, views of the city, gym, and the ample storage space. They do a good job of accommodating roommate requests. Common spaces, like the lobby are very well kept.
What did you like least?
For me, the social scene in the building was really distant, I only knew my roommates. The security guards in the hallway are a bit unfriendly. Long wait for elevators in the morning.

Plenty of space in the unit, decent amenities. It was a serviceable if not a little quiet place to spend the summer.

Relatively cheap, yet secure housing complex for my summer internship. It had a great workout area, and it was only a ten minute walk to work.

Location & Neighborhood

South Loop

The South Loop has been the center of new residential construction in Chicago for the last decade as people have realized just how convenient it is. South Loop boasts a large amount of green space, Soldier Field, and an easy commute to The Loop. While many South Loop buildings are brand new high rises, the rent is comparably more affordable than other neighborhoods.

Taking a lakeshore stroll or running along the lake is easy for South Loopers, with its convenient location. Residents of South Loop can be found dining outside at a cafe or taking advantage of their building’s ample amenities on weeknights. The weekends in South Loop are spent walking to Shedd Aquarium or Adler planetarium for whimsical exploration. Or, using the money saved on rent to attend Lollapalooza or go shopping downtown.

Because South Loop is mostly residential, the nightlife options here are slim to none. Most people head downtown for their entertainment, which makes this neighborhood a quiet place to settle down.
