Overall, very good. Not much around building itself, but great geographic location in city. Management is friendly and responsive. Building is beautiful and well maintained.

My boyfriend chose this building. It was located equally between our places of work. It's lovely to sleep more since the commute is minimal. I enjoyed discovering hip hop classes at 'The Lab' dance studio, just one block north of our HQ at 925 W. Huron. The building itself lends a feel of comfortably-understated luxury. That 'not trying to be cool, but totally trying'. An interesting mix of tenants makes for nice elevator banter. Renting the rooftop means leaving a $300.00 safety deposit and also exclusivity is not an option. But actually, it makes for a lot of fun times and unexpected run-ins to friends you didn't know might be on your rooftop! And since a significant chunk of the tenants are 'young-urban-creatives', it's fine to see more of the people who are like you, any way. The gym was revamped with new equipment, May 2015. I haven't tried it yet. Two of the doormen are friendly and actually become closer friends to most of the tenants the longer they stay. There is an interesting lady with four turtles. She's probably been the longest-renting tenant at River West Lofts.
What did you like most?
I like the feeling that I live in an old shoe factory. It makes me feel 'in-touch' with the super super cool move to industrial and recyclable utility of space. Our parking spot was 100 feet inside the entrance. That was awesome. The windows are gracious in height and width. I appreciated that. The building is pet friendly. In fact, I appreciated property management offering to feed our kitty twice a day for three days while we were away. That's pretty accommodating. I liked that I could roller blade into the elevator and all the way up to my living space on the fourth floor without raised eyebrows.
What did you like least?
I became /such/ close friends with the maintenance workers. It's difficult to just run around, in and out of your living space without spending time chatting with some of the employees I happened to become friendly with. The more we talk, the more sad I feel for my privilege. These employees are gruesomely overworked yet grossly underpaid. If you /do/ happen to rent the rooftop, every single guest must be signed in and then _also_ buzzed in again, which makes the host run around way way way too much. Public bathrooms on the rooftop would enhance the rooftop party experience. Thin walls make for significant noise leak. I suppose tenants can reconcile this annoyance by installing noise-blockers but still, that's an eyesore. And most of these tenants are probably all about that slick interior design. We received a few official noise complaint notices. We never felt like we were raucous. But this reminds me that I do appreciate how communicative the management is with the tenants. And that communication always felt respectful.
