I have had by far the worst experience with building management in my life. It is absolutely terrible. Terry Patrick is rude, unaccommodating and the organizational structure is such that she can't (or won't) route you to her boss because she is apparently the manager of the Midwest.
What did you like most?
I am getting my MBA from University of Chicago, so it is easy being across the street and close to Gleacher Center
What did you like least?
Terry Patrick/Building management. No in unit outdoor space.

Management is terrible, but the accommodations are nice if decorated well. Neighborhood is loud and touristy.. there are drummers that play outside constantly especially when the weather is nice that disturbs sleep.

Building milks the fact that it is located in an ideal spot and has a captive group of tenants. This gives them very little incentive to invest in the building. Surprisingly they did, but they did so stingily (that's why construction is never ending at MPP).

Stressful and exhausting. Management is grossly incompetent and lazy, but means well (most of the time). Building is occupied by many business school students, as well as young people. This leads to lots of parties throughout the hallways, which I would imagine could be unpleasant for families in the building. Staff is very nice though.
What did you like most?
Location for getting to business school in Hyde Park, and proximity to the river and beautiful landmarks nearby.
What did you like least?
Dealing with management. Units on the top floor (38th) are freezing in the winter due to poor insulation.

The building is sufficient. Being surrounded by so many other students (also in graduate school) makes it worth living here. Living in the loop is NOT ideal in terms of nightlife or community, however, being 10-15 minute walk from River North restaurants, bars, etc. is nice.

Convenience to the Metra (South Shore Line) and CTA (red line, brown line, buses)
What did you like least?
No outdoor pool. Don't love living in a high-rise building. Don't love that tourists surround the area.

Great for Booth 1 years. Feels like a dormitory. The location is excellent. Wouldn't say it's a residential area but everything is near. The cost is reasonable, however the heating control is manual and the filters are filthy.

Millennium Park Plaza in a nutshell - the amenities leave something to be desired, and the location within the Downtown Loop is quite touristy (no "neighborhood" feel). Yet the value of the apartments overall is quite good. The price is below other buildings nearby, and far below what I had paid in NYC. Moreover the transportation
What did you like most?
See above. Easy commute to school and internship, and (relatively) low rent for the area. Also the value is quite good. Both important factors for a grad student, such as myself.
What did you like least?
Sub-par amenities, unfriendly doorman, a touristy neighborhood.

Old facilities, really awful elevator service, communal laundry room often in disrepair, package system is terrible... huge time waste. Pretty reasonable rent though and the units themselves aren't bad. Access to park nearby is nice and easy access to certain downtown events. Actual neighborhood nearby has few dining options though and not a great selection of night life.

This building is fine. The units are recently redone and clean, but the building is no frills. No party room, no outdoor pool, and the roofdeck is open for a limited about of time. Gym is small and minimalist. I have a nice apartment though for what I pay.
What did you like most?
The new feeling of the apartment.
What did you like least?
The lack of building amenities and the congestion of the intersection on which we live. Also, the construction needs to end.

I chose the building because it's convenient. I'm an MBA student at University of Chicago and many of us live in the building because it's convenient and the building tries to somewhat cater to the student body (although they don't really do a good job). If a nearby apt building tried to convert the majority of the student body, it would probably be pretty easy.

That said, I recognize that MPP is not a great building by Chicago standards, and the staff (particularly at the front desk and in the parcel room) seem unhelpful sometimes. Good building for the money. Other nearby buildings have nicer amenities, but you cannot beat Millennium Park Plaza for the cost. What do you like most: I am a Chicago Booth Student. My favorite part is how many other Booth students live here. What do you like least: Sales tactics. The salesperson pressured us into getting a unit by saying it was the last one. The waitlist process for getting units was never clear to me.

The building was really social because there are a ton of Booth students living there. It was also extremely practical as a Booth student because study groups are always nearby, it's close to the Gleacher Center, and it's convenient for taking the Metra to campus. I would not have lived in this location if I were a normal working professional in Chicago. The neighborhood doesn't have a ton of character, and besides being close to Millennium Park and Lake Michigan, there aren't many perks to living here.
What did you like most?
View from our room was Millennium Park and the lake, so that was lovely. Being close to these two things were the primary perks of the location.
What did you like least?
Neighborhood has very little character and in late spring/summer/ early fall is filled with tourists.

Good. I know many Chicago Booth students complain about MPP, but overall I have had a solid experience. Terry Patrick has been helpful and responsive when I needed it.
I have dealt with many terrible landlords and management firms, and the "problems" at MPP are nothing compared to what I dealt with in D.C. or LA. It's not five star service, but it's also not a five star price. I have no major complaints other than long elevator wait times during peak traffic.
What did you like most?
Rental price. Good price for the area and affordable for a student budget.
What did you like least?
Long elevator wait times during peak traffic and the neighborhood around the building doesn't offer great food or night life.

I think it's fine for what it is. It's relatively cheap, in a fantastic area in terms of easy to get around. The building management is not great, but the rooms are decent for the price. Shower pressure is amazing.

Comfortable, very good for the specific purpose of staying here while studying at UChicago, but does not feel like a "home"

The area seems interesting at first but it is a bit boring and very "yuppy- jock-esque" and in general not my style

New East Side Chicago is a residential community just east of the heart of the city. This neighborhood is made up of luxury condos and high-rise rentals that surround Lakeshore East Park. New East Side is situated downtown but remains secluded and is tucked away from tourists.
It’s rare to find dining, shopping, and other entertainment options in the neighborhood, but they are only a quick walk away. Residents love that this area is a pedestrian’s paradise, as well as its proximity to Streeterville and River North.
