I live in one of the most iconic buildings in Chicago. The views are unparalleled and the experience is amazing. Each unit is privately owned, so rent prices are determined by each individual owner, and as such, can vary. The units can also look very different from each other based on the modifications individual condo owners have made. Some are more updated than others.

The view and the location.

What did you like least?

Really like living in the center of the city where everything is accessible. Some people say River North/downtown is too touristy but I like the hustle bustle feel and always having things going on -- really a personal preference, as some people prefer more residential areas. For me, residential neighborhoods are too quiet/boring haha. The building itself is awesome - my studio is very cozy and I have a great view. Also like to live in a great Chicago landmark! The people in this building are also friendly - lots of elderly people live here who have been in this building since it was first built in the 60s!

What did you like most?

The location - central to a lot of transportation options (bus, train) and available cabs, as well as extensive choice of restaurants, bars and shopping and park all within walking distance.

What did you like least?

Really don't have anything I don't like about my building or neighborhood! Although I noted that the gym was poor, it is not a dealbreaker for me as I am a member of a gym at Merchandise Mart and don't mind paying for a gym membership. If I really had to be picky, I would say it'd be nice to have a pool area, but I am perfectly content with the panoramic view that the roof top has to provide!

Marina City has been a great place to live, at least for a couple of years. It's fun to live in an iconic Chicago building, and one with such unique architecture. My unit has new appliances, so everything has worked well in the apartment (I've heard other units have old appliances). The building has a mix of owners and renters, and people are generally friendly. I don't love being right in River North - there are great restaurants nearby, but I'm not into the Hubbard St weekend scene.
