I'm in my third year of my lease here. I really like my street itself - it's quiet and mostly families, and the proximity to the Fullerton el station is unreal. Lincoln is an odd street though, there are a bunch of bars that I would never set foot in and that's about it. Not a lot of options within a short walk. They did open a bakery and a coffee shop right nearby, both of which I love, but I have a really hard time just going to grab food or think of a nice restaurant option right nearby. I could venture towards DePaul, but who wants to do that... That being said, if I'm willing to talk about 10 minutes, there are a lot of options. My building itself has a lot of amenities - parking spot, in unit laundry, central heating and air, which is incredible. The unit itself is fine. It looks nice but if you look closely you can tell the building is older and everything is falling apart a little bit. Our apartment is a duplex and the walls are incredibly thin downstairs, which can be frustrating. My landlady is very absent and just one of the dumbest people I've ever met. She's not rude, but when we have issues she sends her dad to fix things and he is not a handyman or qualified, so things then break again immediately. Overall, it's a really great apartment and for the price and location and the parking/laundry, you really can't beat it.

Location

Lincoln Park

Just north of Old Town, Lincoln Park is one of the largest and most popular Chicago neighborhoods– and for good reason. Most residents are a short distance away from some of the best nightlife, dining, lakefront parks, shopping, and tree-lined streets in the entire city. It combines all the best aspects of a close-knit community with the appeal of the big city. This means rental prices can be high.

Residents live mostly in walk-ups, but there are quite a few high-rises, especially near the lake. Lincoln Parkers are spoiled with their close proximity to the lake and ample running and biking trails. Lincoln Park has the second largest shopping concentration in the city: ranging from high-end boutiques to secondhand resale shops.

Lincoln Park also offers public tennis and basketball courts, baseball and softball diamonds, and soccer fields that are used recreationally and by intramural leagues. Weekends can be spent strolling through the Lincoln Park Zoo, hitting a bucket of golf balls at the Diversey Bay Harbor, or heading to Lakeview or The Loop easily via the Brown Line.
