It's a 'vintage' building with cheap rent major subway station in a neighborhood of upscale development. On one side is an old-fashioned YMCA for cheap housing while across the street is a major university campus for students of professions. All of this means the neighborhood has an interesting mix of tourists, clerks and cashiers, yuppies, students, and indigent. It's about as close to NYC you can get in Chicago.
What did you like most?
Being in the thick of it and all it entails.
What did you like least?
If you are low to the ground (not in a tower), you will hear wailing sirens rather incessantly. Sometimes the hubbub on the street can be irritating if you are not in the right mind for it.

Gold Coast Chicago is a historic, luxurious neighborhood that has been developed significantly in the last few years. Within the Gold Coast neighborhood, you’ll find a blend of residences, restaurants, shopping, convenient access to Lake Michigan, and boisterous nightlife. Which makes it one of the more unique Chicago neighborhoods.

Gold Coast Chicago housing options are mostly high rises, both old and new, that almost always have spectacular views of Lake Michigan. Despite high prices, there are good deals to be found in older buildings that have been well-kept.

On weekdays tourists and residents frequent the area’s quaint parks, high-end shops, and restaurants. On weeknights, the area offers some of the best socializing and people-watching in the city. After hours, Division Street becomes a hub for those who don’t want the party to stop.

Weekends on Oak Street Beach and Lake Shore Drive are where Gold Coast really shines. Gold Coasters enjoy the ability to walk, jog or bike along Lake Michigan via quick access to the Lakefront Trail.
