The management is fantastic. Although the buildings are old, they are kept in pretty good shape. (Honestly, they probably should do a gut remodel given the age, but they've been able to avoid that for a long time by taking good care of the place.) There is no air conditioning, but the corner unit I was in had lots of windows and a window unit was enough to survive the hot summers. The heat is free but not controllable and turns on automatically based on the average temperature of the building. We were on the first floor (no garden unit or heat in the space below) and in a corner, so it was always cold. I imagine that the 2nd and 3rd floor units were much warmer. The maintenance staff is very responsive to requests and when it snows, they are outside snowblowing right away. Neighbors are very friendly but most people tend to keep to themselves. It's pretty quiet. The neighborhood isn't too bad. A moderate walk from Andersonville, but there are a couple places to eat around there. It's not a 'happening' place at night, but it's not a bad area. The beach and Lake Shore path are just 2 blocks away. Easy transportation down to the city or up north (2 blocks from Bryn Mawr, Thorndale, or Sheridan/Lake Shore buses). Great location.
