I moved here when I started grad school, so my budget was lower than previous years of my life. It was a pretty good stay for the price. What you gain in proximity to the lake/path, you sacrifice in noise level. In addition to the normal traffic and bus noises, we get a lot of ambulance and firetruck noise due to our spot between three hospitals.

What did you like most?

Live here if you like good food, corner market owners and waiters who will remember you, cheap and plentiful gym and dry cleaning options, and access to many bus and train routes. I also would not have given up our proximity to the lake for running, riding, and beach sitting.

What did you like least?

The noise level and the aging building. While the temperature control works pretty well (a huge deal in both summer and winter), the rest of the building shows signs of age and lower-budget. Management grudgingly made minor, temporary fixes. We didn't entertain that much because the kitchen and living rooms are on separate ends of the apartment--would've preferred an open kitchen/living space. Parking is hard, and >$200/mo if you rent a spot nearby.
