1 bedroom

from Chicago, IL
The 2140 building was my fourth apartment in Chicago and it is where I resided for almost two years. This is one of the cheaper one bedroom units in the city so I knew I would not be getting the nicest of apartment experiences. The area was great, the parking was decent, and there is easy bus and lake shore access in addition to shops and restaurants. Overall, it was a very positive experience.
What did you like most?
The 1 bedroom was very spacious. Good size bedroom and living room. Great rent. Close to four bus lines and the lake as well. I wish there had been a few more quick places to grab food, but lots of restaurants and bars in the Lincoln Park area. Also, management responded to all requests in a timely manner.
What did you like least?
The kitchen was extremely small and the unit did not have a dishwasher. In the winter, the radiators were extremely hot and loud and made the apartment feel like a sauna. Management has been doing a lot of work to upgrade the building but they could still make improvements to the lobby and elevator area to give the building a fresher look.

Location

Lincoln Park

Just north of Old Town, Lincoln Park is one of the largest and most popular Chicago neighborhoods– and for good reason. Most residents are a short distance away from some of the best nightlife, dining, lakefront parks, shopping, and tree-lined streets in the entire city. It combines all the best aspects of a close-knit community with the appeal of the big city. This means rental prices can be high.

Residents live mostly in walk-ups, but there are quite a few high-rises, especially near the lake. Lincoln Parkers are spoiled with their close proximity to the lake and ample running and biking trails. Lincoln Park has the second largest shopping concentration in the city: ranging from high-end boutiques to secondhand resale shops.

Lincoln Park also offers public tennis and basketball courts, baseball and softball diamonds, and soccer fields that are used recreationally and by intramural leagues. Weekends can be spent strolling through the Lincoln Park Zoo, hitting a bucket of golf balls at the Diversey Bay Harbor, or heading to Lakeview or The Loop easily via the Brown Line.
