Overall, it was a good experience. I was just out of college so I wasn't picky about a really nice, new place. The apartment was old, the radiators were loud & hard to control, and there were a ton of layers of chipping paint on the walls and old windows.
What did you like most?
The location & relatively cheap rent.
What did you like least?
How old the place was.

Which makes it one of the more unique Chicago neighborhoods.
Gold Coast Chicago housing options are mostly high rises, both old and new, that almost always have spectacular views of Lake Michigan. Despite high prices, there are good deals to be found in older buildings that have been well-kept.
