This area is a healthy mix of nightlife and residential quiet adjacent to Vanderbilt University. Midtown is most appreciated for its convenience. This neighborhood is easy to navigate, walkable, and there are plenty of places to keep busy on the weekend. Locals and tourists alike flock to hear live music and variety acts at Exit/In and The End on Elliston Place. Centennial Park is just within reach and boasts miles of green, a lake, sunken gardens, and a striking 1897 replica of the Parthenon.
The Nashville Farmers Market occurs within Centennial Park and hosts a variety of vendors selling food, drinks, and fresh local produce. Be sure to stop in at Gardens of Babylon to view the assortment of stunning indoor and outdoor plants.
Midtown housing consists of beautiful antique homes that are typically rented out as Air Bnb’s, as well as a plethora of new high-rise condominiums. The main appeal of the area is its extraordinary convenience. With office spaces, homes, and plenty of dining and entertainment options— this neighborhood has it all.
Midtown is ideal for its proximity to many other popular neighborhoods. The Gulch, Downtown, Hillsboro Village, and Music Row are all a quick commute away from this bustling area. With that being said, there are plenty of restaurant and bar options within walking distance.
Saltine is an interior designer’s dream and serves incredible seafood. A trip to Nashville isn’t really complete until you’ve tried hot chicken, but you’re in luck because the famous Hattie B’s has a location in Midtown.
Nightlife
It’s time to grab a drink, and Midtown is the best place to do it. The Patterson House is any local’s favorite; it’s intimate and serves superior cocktails and snacks. Nearby in Edgehill is another favorite, Old Glory. This beautiful bar is housed in what used to be the boiler room for White Way Cleaners, formerly one of the largest steam cleaning facilities in Nashville. Old Glory is a must-visit for plants and architectural interest galore, not to mention a delicious handcrafted drink.
Local Hangouts
Midtown’s biggest attraction, aside from the nightlife, is definitely Centennial Park. Grab lunch from the Nashville Farmers Market and lounge lakeside on a park bench. Follow up an afternoon in the sun with a visit to Sarratt Gallery at Vanderbilt University. A true Nashville gem that boasts a rotating exhibition of national and regional artists.
A huge appeal to life in Midtown is its walkability and location; so many residents don’t own cars. Having a car in this neighborhood can get expensive. Many Midtown residences will provide a secure parking spot for residents, but you’ll have to pay for parking almost everywhere else in the area. If, by chance, you need to venture a bit further, rideshares are abundant and extremely affordable.
