Location is close to everything, including public transport. The building is old, and sometimes management could do a better job at keeping it clean and looking good. Similarly with the elevators, they should have spare parts in storage to be able to fix them easily rather than waiting weeks for a part. I love the charm of the building, just wish it was kept up a bit nicely.

I like being away from MPP and living in a building with more character, but the amenities are not the best, building management is rude, neighborhood can feel unsafe.

I dislike the management and the amenities of the building. But I love the building itself and the concierge staff, which has kept me there for two years. Overall it has been a good place to live as I appreciate its history and the location is extremely convenient with my office being less than a mile away.

The look of the building is unbeatable. It was built in 1906, designed by architect Daniel Burnham. My apartment is on the 17th floor and has the most breathtaking view of the Harold Washington Library and the lake. I have a great view of the Planetarium as well. The original hardwood floors and arched windows give it so much charm.
What did you like least?
The building management office has been awful to me, and I have never been late on a payment or received a neighbor complaint. The worst offense was when I had a friend stay with me for a period of 3 weeks after he lost his job and his lease was up. I was given a letter at the 2 week mark stating that I had a visitor for over 7 days, which was not allowed and that he needed to leave or else I would be evicted. I asked the management if he could have a background check so that he could stay while he looked for a new job/apartment. They gave him one, and hten failed him and didn't tell either of us why. At the 3 week mark I had a letter slipped under my door stating I would be evicted in 24 hours if he didn't leave. I had no choice but to kick my friend out of my apartment, that I pay $2K a month for. It made me feel like I was in a college dorm with little to no personal rights. If they were more friendly and accommodating I would have a much higher opinion of the building.
