City Park Apartments

A green oasis in the heart of Denver bursting with cultural attractions.

Cozy · Retro · Green · Trendy · Attractions

Just outside of the Central Business District, but still central, the City Park neighborhood is tucked below Denver’s largest park. This homey neighborhood has something for all ages and interests. Residents of City Park enjoy the convenience of having events in their backyard that many people drive or travel to experience. This 330 acre park is home to The Denver Museum of Nature & Science, the Denver Zoo, and multiple playgrounds, pavilions, and walking paths. In the summer, Jazz in the Park is hosted here. Locals from all over Denver flock to the City Park Pavilion with lawn chairs, coolers, and bottles of wine to enjoy local bands as the sun sets. And, if one enormous park isn't enough, Cheesman Park is just a stone's throw away.

About 70% of this neighborhood is occupied by the park itself. So the neighborhood of City Park is actually quite small. Houses are moderately sized and close together. Most have grassy front and back yards, alleyway garage access, and quaint front porches. Most residential options are single-family homes with the occasional house that has been split into two dwellings. A few mid-rise apartment buildings have sprung up since the 2000s. You’ll typically find better prices and fewer luxury amenities than you would in more “downtown” areas. But this can be a plus if you prefer to step away from the bustle and enjoy the laid back, tree-lined streets of a true neighborhood feel.

Neighborhood Vibe

The personality of City Park mirrors its residents—trendy and outdoorsy. For many, this little paradise is an escape from the concrete jungle of the Central Business District. You could spend your whole weekend roaming around the largest park in Denver, and you still wouldn’t have explored every nook and cranny of it. This neighborhood primarily has single-family homes and mid-rise apartments, which directly contrasts the sleek high-rises of downtown Denver.

Favorite Spots

Whether you’re a local or a visitor, there’s always something to do in City Park. The Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science always top this list, but dining options along Colfax won’t leave you disappointed. To the Wind Bistro is one of Denver’s finest hidden gems. Q House and Kitchen Table serve up cult-favorite barbecue. Syrup and Denver Biscuit Co. are breakfast staples, and casual eats can be found at Little Beast Street Food, or Tacos Tequila Whiskey.

Things to Know

City Park is one of the most active neighborhoods in Denver as a result of the green space that spans the North portion. Find locals biking and sunbathing all throughout the park during the warmer months. RTD bus and rail lines run through City Park, making it extremely easy to get to and from the neighborhood conveniently. Parking is sparse and in high demand, so public transportation is your best bet living here.
