I rent a condo from a friend of mine, so the landlord experience is great. They have onsite maintenance so if something breaks it can be quickly and easily fixed. The building management is kind of annoying. They don't let you move in on weekends and have a lot of random rules. My fiance moved in with me and it was kind of a hassle. I don't have to interact with them much, so the overall experience is still great. You can't beat the location -- beach, bars, restaurants, grocery store, L, river north, old town all within walking distance

Overall, this was an enjoyable living experience for me. The unit itself was easily the best part - panoramic views of downtown Chicago and Oak Street beach. We hosted friends often and had a great time. That said, the building residents are kind of a mixed bag - thin walls led to multiple (in my opinion, unfair) noise complaints. We also had issues with neighbors being too loud on weeknights. Building charged residents for access to the pool on weekends and nickel and dimed us on move out. Neighborhood was solid initially - lots of time spent at bars and restaurants at Clark and Division, but the "college 2.0" appeal wore off rather quickly. Would have loved a few more quick service restaurants in the area - ate at Chipotle and Corner Bakery a ton. Proximity of Oak Street Beach / Lakeshore Drive was a huge plus and more than offset the immediate surrounding area. Nearby grocery store and red line is a slightly uncomfortable distance away for the middle of winter. Definitely led me to cook and go out less than anticipated. Management wasn't terribly responsive to work requests. Laundry room got very crowded on weekends.

What did you like most?

In-unit experience (fantastic views!) and proximity to Oak Street Beach.

What did you like least?

Mediocre neighborhood feel. Other residents were really a mixed bag and very sensitive to younger renters.
