Positive. It is a 6 floor condo building and we rent from an individual owner. The owner is distant which is good most of the time. We have only interacted with them in person twice over the past 2 years. There have been water backup problems in the building and the windows and doors to the porches are terrible. We asked to get them fixed but it has never gotten anywhere. the condo is very drafty and most windows don't open. Just poor design and maintenance.
What did you like most?
The area - close to river north but at 30% less expensive for rent. It is quiet but if you want to be in the hustle bustle, you can be pretty quickly. Also, very close to the loop. We are looking to buy in the area, but supply is very limited.
What did you like least?
Issues with the building. There was a night club in the basement of the building next door that was luckily shut down. Often times we would hear people through our crappy windows late at night. Sometimes, there is quite a bit of trash laying around areas underneath the metra tracks. It would be nice if the city cleaned those areas frequently. We could use a grocery store closer by. Luckily, there are plans to build a multiuse building at Chicago and Milwaukee that is supposed to have a trader joes. If that is the case, we will definitely want to buy in river west/west town.
