Riverfront Park Denver Neighborhood Guide

Riverfront Park Denver Neighborhood Guide

An oasis in the heart of downtown, Riverfront Park Denver offers dense urban living with plenty of green space.

Green · Central · Riverfront · Chic · Lively · Dense

Riverfront Park Denver is arguably one of the most attractive central neighborhoods and has recently been getting the attention it deserves. With the South Platte River right in its backyard and effortless access to urban conveniences, this neighborhood is a true local treasure.

Riverfront Park is situated between LoDo, RiNo, and LoHi, which are considered three of Denver’s trendiest neighborhoods. You’ll get the best of all three neighborhoods here. Walk across the Platte River to enjoy the fresh and innovative dining scene of the Lower Highlands.

Or, walk towards Union Station for LoDo’s chic and upscale cocktail bars. With mostly mid-rise condos, Riverfront Park provides a residential contrast to the highrises of LoDo and the CBD.

This neighborhood is mainly centered around the South Platte River and its surrounding green space. Although this collection of parks is the main attraction, plenty of hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops are sprinkled along the tree-lined streets. This area commonly hosts people who are visiting the Mile High City before relocating— so it’s a great place to meet new people!

It isn’t hard to see why Riverfront Park Denver is considered a ‘hidden gem’ to locals. Not many downtown neighborhoods boast this much greenspace, scenic paths along the river, and a variety of housing options.

Neighborhood Life

Riverfront Park neighborhood is sometimes considered part of LoDo, but it really has a vibe of its own. Separated from the rest of downtown by raised walkways over the rail lines and separated from the Highlands by the Platte River, this area is quiet and tucked away. That doesn’t mean that it’s dull. You’ll find roof-top decks, pool parties, picnics, amazing views of the city skyline, and some of Denver’s finest luxury housing. On the weekend, residents can be found walking their dog, enjoying charcuterie boards at Commons Park, or taking a scooter to their favorite lunch spot in the Highlands.

Local Hangouts

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: the park is the main attraction here. However, the area is also home to one of the biggest downtown dog parks, an equally impressive skate park, and hosts live music in the summer. Besides a few shops here and there, the only big-box store in the area is the flagship REI.

This enormous ode to the Colorado lifestyle is located in a renovated power plant built in 1901 and is definitely worth a stop. Dining options are somewhat limited here, but cross the iconic Millenium Bridge, and you’ll find plenty in LoDo. (We love Public School 303 and Terminal Bar.)

Things to Know

With Riverfront Park’s proximity to Union Station, you’ll have plenty of transportation options. Between rideshare services, rental car apps, and the (surprisingly clean) Denver train system, it is quite feasible to live in this area without owning a car. Because this area is so dense, parking can easily be over $200 a month. So make sure you factor it into your lease price. Overall, Riverfront Park Denver is a great place to live, which means rent prices can be higher than in other areas. However, residents will tell you that living in this green oasis in the middle of the city is well worth the price tag.
